This workshop gives you a taste of what it's like to work for a paper. You'll receive weekly assignments and a critique on each one. Here's how it works:
• The instructor will be available in person each Saturday starting on 8/21. He'll provide an assignment, give you tips and guidance and answer questions. If you can't be present for the classes, he can email you the assignment. Each assignment could range from an opinion-oriented blog post to a profile piece.
• You'll have until the following Thursday at 5 p.m. to complete and submit your piece.
• The instructor will critique, edit and provide valuable feedback on your writing and return the piece to you before the following Saturday in which you will receive another assignment. You will receive a total of three assignments.

This unique three-work course gives you the opportunity to learn techniques and get a feel for the real world of writing. The instructor, Carlton Hargro, is the current editor in chief of Charlotte's alternative weekly, Creative Loafing. Carlton has over 20 years of experience.
